Built by a dad.
Inspired by an extraordinary boy.
My son Rory is 10. He's autistic, fiercely bright, and one of the most articulate people I've ever met. He has a vocabulary that stops adults mid-conversation, a strong sense of justice, and opinions on absolutely everything — delivered with complete confidence.
His teachers have always said the same thing: Rory is incredibly clever, but he needs to slow down. Read the question. Check the detail. Get what's in his head onto the page.
But Rory isn't unique in that. When I talked to other parents, I kept hearing it. She's bright but losing confidence. He understands it but can't show it. She just needs someone to go at her pace.
So when Rory and I had two weeks at home together, I asked him what he actually needed. He told me — clearly, in that very Rory way. And then we built it together, at the kitchen table.
